Challenges:
With a coverage area of five counties and over 70,000 customers, keeping track of company vehicles, was not easy. For purposes of employee safety, customer satisfaction and driver accountability—the company needed a means to identifying the location of their fleet, especially in large scale outages and other urgent situations. Additionally, management recognized the need to better track the maintenance of their fleet.
Solution:
Union Electric Membership Corporation implemented SageQuest’s GPS fleet system in order to:
- View each vehicle in their fleet through real-time mapping, especially in relation to geofences and landmarks.
- Access Travel & Stops Reports which keep a record of how long each job has taken and who the driver was.
- Route the closest driver "on the fly" based on location and urgency through the Find Nearest feature.
- Track vehicle maintenance in an organized manner and update drivers of each vehicle.
Results:
- Management has been able to eliminate unauthorized stops and can feel confident its drivers are where there are supposed to be at all times.
- Dispatchers can better gauge who to route to a call, resulting in less down time for customers.
- If a technician needs additional assistance, dispatch can easily pinpoint the exact location of the driver’s vehicle, enhancing safety for the employee and the community.
- Vehicles are serviced in a more timely fashion, causing less downtime and all vehicle maintenance is recorded in one place.
